ROCKFORD - The Jefferson J-Hawks defense held Auburn to just 22 yards from scrimmage and returned two interceptions for touchdowns in a 37-6 route of the Knights.
The game's start was delayed twice by lightning, which may have contributed to the ragged play. The J-Hawks won despite committing 12 penalties for 130 yards and losing three fumbles, including one that was returned for a touchdown.
The Knights, though, had even more struggles, committing 19 penalties and turning the ball over three times.
Jefferson stifled the Auburn running game throughout with the Knights losing 25 yards on 23 carries. The J-Hawks also held Auburn's two quarterbacks to just seven completions in 38 attempts for 47 yards. Antwon Haley had a 44-yard interception return for a TD early in the third quarter and Shawn Foltz added a 25-yard interception return for another to put the J-Hawks up 30-6.
