Turner runs at Eastern Illinois

May 31, 2025Jefferson High School, Rockford, IL — Jefferson High School sophomore track and field athlete Janardie Turner made a splash at the IHSA State Finals Saturday, setting a new school record in the 110-meter hurdles and a personal best in the 300-meter hurdles.

Turner finished 3rd in the 110-meter hurdles final with a time of 13.94 seconds, establishing both a personal and school record.

Later in the day, Turner competed in the 300-meter hurdles final, finishing 6th in the state with a personal best time of 39.09 seconds. While the school record for the 300-meter hurdles remains held by Ferguson (38.9) from 1981, Turner’s performance still marked a significant achievement, setting a new personal record and cementing his place among the top athletes in the state.

As only a sophomore, Turner’s performances at the state finals are already impressive, and his future in track and field looks bright.

Jefferson High School Athletics congratulates Turner on his outstanding accomplishments at the state finals and looks forward to his continued success in the coming years.
